We here at the ACS Office, also comply with consultation matters from the university staff working with international students. With the knowledge and experience in issues related to international student affairs, our staff would like to consider matters together with you. Matters related to Research or Studentship
The research supervisors are very important for the international students to achieve their goal during their staying in Japan, and to continue the career in the same field after graduation as well. The development of better human relations between the faculty and international students is of much value . While accepting excellent international students with the rigid screening, appropriate consideration during their studentship is also required. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns with the students’ study and research.
Matters related to Human Relations of International Student
International students spend time residing in a new culture. Way of establishing human connections may be also different from the way they are familiar with . What for a student who has brought up in Japan is tacit understanding in the university environment, research laboratory or room, might be a difficult thing for the international students to understand. If you have concerns about developing good human relationships with international students, please feel free to contact us.
Matters related to Mental Health of International Student
Sometimes due to stress from human relations or research pressure, international students are likely to fall into a depression and in some moments the situation may become uncontrollable by themselves. If the students say "I can't sleep for several days", if they avoid coming to the university, or if they say that the people around them are speaking ill of them, the condition may have become quite serious. Please tell them to consult our office, or come to our office yourself.
Matters related to Life
Insecurity in life will affect the research. Sometimes, it is possible to judge from the appearance of international Student like they "appears to be tired" or "has reduced weight", but in case of the adult international Student it is often seen that they are working hard towards recovering and managing themselves. If you feel anything alarming or bothering in their daily life, please recommend them "How about discussing this with the ACS office". People from the surroundings of international Student are also welcome to discuss in place of them.
Matters related to Part-time Job
In the case of international students, while going for part-time jobs the working hours and types of jobs are restricted by the immigration law. Moreover, the PERMIT TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITY OTHER THAN THAT PERMITTED BY THE STATUS OF RESIDENCE PREVIOUSLY GRANTED' issued by the Immigration Bureau is required. Part-time jobs within the university are always welcome. Please try to give working opportunity to international students on campus. Matters related to Entry to Japan and Stay
Application for Authorization of Resident Eligibility at accepting privately financed can be submitted by the professor of the university accepting the student. For the convenience of entry we recommend proxy application. For questions about procedures for extension of visa, changing the status, etc., or anything else that is not clear, you can contact the Information Center of Immigration Bureau, International Student Exchange Division of the university, and feel free to contact the ACS office as well.
